The Hide | Artist Retreat

An artist lead initiative offering residencies, retreats, mentoring, workshops, accommodation Just on the outskirts of the Gloucestershire town of Nailsworth in England sits The Hide in the middle of a Cotswolds AONB ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’.

This is no ordinary getaway. It serves those simply looking for a change of scene and is the ideal spot for all types of artists and creatives seeking inspiration.

The Hide offers guests the choice of two separate accommodations; a charming shepherd's Hut or a one-bedroom open plan suite attached to the lovely family home.

The shepherds Hut sits neatly tucked away in a private area of the shared garden. This charming cabin comes complete with a comfortable double bed with fine linens, electric lighting, high speed broadband and traditional wood burner. Further up the garden in the art studio you'll find the shower room as well as the kitchen area with fridge, microwave, toaster, sink and worktop.

Access to the more spacious suite is through the house’s main entrance. The living area sits under vaulted ceilings and is illuminated by natural light coming in through large windows. This provides the perfect setting to work on your projects and get inspired by the tranquil surroundings. It has high speed broadband, a couch, writing desk and a wood burner. The bedroom boasts a double bed while the luxurious ensuite bathroom has WC, basin and walk in shower. A small kitchen area is with a fridge, microwave, kettle, and toaster in the shared utility space.

The charming town of Nailsworth is just a short woodland walk or drive from The Hide. It houses several bars, cafes, and shops. The local pub The Old Lodge is up on the common and is great for those seeking local ales and hearty pub fare.  The lively town of Stroud is also a 10-minute drive to the North with its famous farmers’ market.  Should you wish to venture a bit further, Bath, Bristol Cheltenham and Gloucester are all within driving distance.

Being set in the Cotswolds you will not want for artistic ideas either. This protected region is known for its undulating countryside, stone-built villages and variety of stately homes and manor houses - sure to get the creative juices flowing.
